To protect yourself from scammers and to understand the risks associated with online shopping, we recommend that you follow our simple to understand safety tips:
Always try to contact the seller by phone
We recommend that you first contact the seller by phone, and make sure it is an Australian phone number before deciding to make a purchase. Beware of sellers abroad, of which you only know their email.
Inspect the item before making a payment is best
In our experience, the safest option is to contact the seller by phone, make arrangements to inspect the item listed, accompanied by someone, perhaps in a public area, or at their residence, and if you’re happy with what you see, pay and pick up the item. Both parties should make an agreement on the price and the payment before the transaction.
Price too good to be true
If you see a listed item where the price is much lower than the market price, then most likely it is a scam. Because scammers try to attract buyers by showing low price in the market. Pay special attention when buying expensive items, such as cell phones, laptops, TV, etc with a very low price
– if it's too good to be true it’s probably not!
Use a secure payment method
Payments should be made directly to the seller by the buyer. We don't recommend paying for an item before inspecting it in person, however if you choose to send the money expecting the item to be posted, then it’s best to use a secure payment method such as PayPal. LANKALIST does not act as a payment gateway or get involved in the transactions between the seller and the buyer. Both the parties should make an agreement on the price and the payment before the transaction.
LANKALIST is not an intermediary and in no case intervenes for the mediation of payment between two parties. If you are contacted by someone who pretends to be a member of the LANKALIST Team and asks you to make a transfer to cover payment for any item that is for sale, this is false. Do not follow any of the instructions indicated.
Report suspicious ads
If you suspect a listing is fraudulent, please let us know so that we can take action to either take it down or fix the issue. You can file a complaint when you have been a victim of a scam.

Please note that there may be adverse legal consequences if you make a false allegation through this process. You acknowledge and agree that, while LANKALIST reserves the right to remove any Content from the Site at any time, LANKALIST shall not be responsible for issuing "Take Down Notices" to any third party site and LANKALIST shall have no liability for the posting of any Content by a User.
Keep a record of your dealings
Keep a record of your text messages or emails you have with the seller. This will come handy in the unfortunate event of something going wrong in the transaction.

Provide a good description about your Ad
Give a good description about the product or service you are selling by completing all fields in the ad posting form, so your ad contains as much detail as possible. Also, importantly clearly and accurately specifying your price offer.
Include good quality photos
As the saying goes; pictures speak a thousand words. This is true when posting ads on LANKALIST too, especially if you want to make your ad more appealing and stand out from the rest. Adding multiple good quality photos can increase the chances of your ad success.
Use a secure payment method
Payments should be made directly by the buyer. We don't recommend shipping an item before receiving proof of payment. It’s always best to use a secure payment method such as PayPal.

Proof of purchase
Where possible, ensure you have a receipt of some sort that proves authenticity of your ownership of the item. Always wait for a payment to be made or to have cleared in your account before handing over your item.
